David is currently looking for full-time employment in/or closely related to the music business, so give him a shout at david.wagner@happenstanceproductions.com if you hear of any opportunities.

In and Out of Prague - featuring Nashville 9's Steven Knapp

Nashville 9 Member Steven Knapp's photography is being featured in an exhibition on October 30, 2009. They called it The Nashville 9. Assisted by a grassroots collective of Nashville cast, crew and musicians, the foursome worked in frenetic 24-hour cycles to turn Nashvillians’ freshly told stories into written songs and scenes that were immediately recorded and filmed. Each day, one story sparked one song and one scene. The result after nine days: an album featuring the nine songs recorded by different Nashville artists and producers, and a short film comprising the nine scenes shot at various Nashville locations.

The Show (following the "Soundcheck" Party)
The evening will include a brief introduction to the Nashville 9 project, musical performances by four Nashville artists featured on the album (The Champion and His Burning Flame, Michael Logen, Kindercastle, and Jaclyn James with special guest Plumb) and a premiere screening of the short film. Attendees will also get a sneak peak at a forthcoming documentary about the Nashville 9 project.

Community Outreach
A community effort of this magnitude warrants a deserving partner. The Nashville 9 has adopted the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee as the benefactor of the project. The Nashville 9 aims to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee by collecting audiovisual equipment from willing donors to outfit a media center at one of the organization’s Nashville-area clubs. Members of the Nashville 9 team will also be donating their time to educate the children at the clubs on how to use the equipment and create multimedia projects of their own.

All proceeds from the “Soundcheck” party preceding the Concert and Premiere will benefit The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee’s media center initiative.

Tickets on Sale for March 19 Premiere

The album and short film produced during The Nashville 9 project will premiere on March 19, at the Belcourt Theatre. We'd like to extend a big thank you to everyone involved: the sponsors and other individuals who generously provided products, services and food; the organizations and individuals who authorized the use of their facilities; the recording artists and producers; the cast and crew; the storytellers; and the unsung team members that made the nine days such a success. But there's still work to be done and a premiere in March 2009! Keep checking back for news, blogs and updates over the next several months.

SAVE THE DATE!

Thursday, March 19, 2009 - The Belcourt Theatre

You'll want to be there when the project's short film and album are officially unveiled at The Nashville 9 Premiere and Performance Event to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. Mark your calendars and keep an eye on your inbox or thenashville9.com (http://www.thenashville9.com) for more details.

Lots of New Content Coming to thenashville9.com

Now that we've almost completely recovered from the intense nine-day project (not to mention the months of pre-production), we're turning our attention to our web site. Beginning Dec. 1 and continuing for nine weeks, we'll be giving you an inside look at each day of the project through blog posts by screenwriter Chad Morgan and songwriter Luke Sheets. On each of the project's nine days, Morgan and Sheets took a story contributed by someone in Nashville and wrote a film scene and song, respectively, based on that story. Now the two writers will be sharing the story that was chosen each day, then sharing their thoughts and memories of writing that day. The Nashville 9's blog (http://www.thenashville9.com/blog/) will feature regular updates based on the following schedule:

- Each Monday, one of the project's selected stories will be posted.

- Each Wednesday, screenwriter Chad Morgan will post a new blog entry detailing his writing process for that day's scene.

- Each Friday, songwriter Luke Sheets will post a new blog entry detailing his writing process for that day's song.

In Case You Missed It

The Nashville 9 intern, Lyra, offered daily video updates during the nine days of the project. Click the link below to watch these entertaining vidcasts and see how the project unfolded.

"The Nashville 9cast"

Episode Archives (http://www.vimeo.com/album/35575)

Also, we've created a Nashville 9 group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/nashville9/pool/) on the photo sharing site flickr.com where we are pooling any still photographs related to the project. Special thanks to Steven Knapp, Tyler Smith and Lois Moreno for contributing their photographic talents to The Nashville 9.

Donate to the Boys & Girls Clubs' Vine Hill Center Media Lab

The Nashville 9 will be continuing its efforts to raise money and collect music and video equipment for a media center at the Vine Hill Boys & Girls Club in Nashville. The song "Floating Down The River" is a fun children's song about a Duck getting up enough courage to jump in the river. A last minute drum track was added at the 11th hour by good friend and artist Geoff Hunker. The short film, Ellen's Diner, was done as part of the 48 Hour Film Project. We drew the genre "romance" and were assigned the following—each of which had to be included in the films by the 53 participating Nashville teams: a character (Rob Hatch, security consultant); a line of dialogue ("My brother had one just like that."); and a prop (calendar). We had 48 hours to write, cast, film, edit, and score a movie that ran 4 to 7 minutes (with an extra 60 seconds allowed for credits). We made the deadline with minutes to spare and are proud of the results. Click Here to Watch!

Julie Smith Comes On Board

The Nashville 9 is excited to announce the addition of Julie Smith to the project.
